Advanced Photography Course 2025 – Essay
Timo Lemli on his work: “This photo essay explores the theme ‘The Unknown Society in Which We Live.’ In creating this series, I focused on everyday objects that, at first glance, might seem rather ‘ugly,’ and on the aspects of them that are usually overlooked. The focus is not on the objects themselves, but on the small traces that accumulate within them and remain invisible as we pass by. Through use and exposure to the elements, the object changes step by step—so slowly that it’s barely noticeable in everyday life. The photo series seeks to highlight precisely these inconspicuous changes as something special. To present what appears ugly at first glance in such a way that it can be perceived as beautiful.”
